Supporting Children with Behaviour Challenges : AI for Education

Hubeta is a AI-driven companion that provides evidence-based, personalised conversations to assist anyone supporting children with behavior and intellectual developmental challenges.

With the aim of making the tool and the data collected publicly available, we are seeking committed sponsors for Hubeta.

Introduction

In rural Sub-Saharan Africa, there is a significant shortage of educational resources for children with special needs. This leads to delayed diagnoses and insufficient support, limiting their learning opportunities and social integration.

As a result, educational and treatment programs remain inadequate, leaving thousands of children without proper education and reinforcing a cycle of exclusion and severe poverty for both their families and future generations.

The Project: Mapping Specific Needs in Ghana

Hubeta assists therapists, parents, and teachers in screening for signs of intellectual development challenges, creating activities, and promoting collaboration to support children. Through a chatbot, users can easily engage in personalized conversations with just one click, allowing parents to connect with qualified therapists to address their child's needs.

This service bridges geographical and financial gaps, making specialized healthcare more accessible.

Data Collection for Supporting At-Risk Children

To expand the reach of Hubeta, we need to gather data in the Greater Accra region.

Number of at-risk children, both enrolled and unenrolled in school
Challenges faced by parents
Age distribution of children with autism
Educational content needs
Demand for support services for parents and teachers

From Shadows to Spotlight: A Long-Term Vision

The data collected will inform sustainable educational solutions, focusing on autism and the challenges faced by children with special needs in marginalized areas. It will enable a more effective approach to public policies by making the invisible visible: the thousands of children with behavior or intellectual developmental challenges in Ghana, and eventually across Sub-Saharan Africa in the second phase.
